Setup

  1. Shuffle the island tiles place them face up (full color side)
  2. Make a 4 x 4 grid of tiles, leaving some space between them
  3. Place two additional tiles in the middle of each side of the square
  4. Shuffle the Flood cards, place them face down, and draw six cards, one at a time, placing them next to the draw pile face up and flip the related Island tile over so it's "flooded"
  5. Shuffle and deal one adventurer card to each player
  6. Each player will share their power and place a pawn of the same color on the matching tile
  7. Shuffle and deal two Treasure cards to each player
    • If a Waters Rise card is dealt, hand back to dealer and give a new Treasure card
  8. Set the water level (difficulty)

General Play

  1. Players take up to three actions on their turn from four options:
    • Move up, down, left, or right onto an adjacent tile (flooded or not)
    • Shore Up an adjacent (up, down, left or right) or current tile a player is on to make it unflooded
    • Give a treasure card to another player
    • Capture a treasure by discarding four matching Treasure cards while the player's pawn is on a corresponding island tile
  2. Draw two cards from the treasure deck one at a time
    • Treasure and Special Action cards go into your hand, discarding any cards from your hand if you have more than five cards total
    • Waters Rise force the water level up and cause the Flood discard pile to be shuffled and added to the top of the Flood draw pile
    • When the treasure deck runs out shuffle and turn the treasure discard pile over to make a new draw deck
  3. Draw the number of flood cards equal to the water level and flip matching un-flooded tiles to their flooded side, or remove matching flooded tiles (and their flood card) from the game entirely
    • If a pawn is on a tile that sinks it needs to swim to an adjacent tile
    • If the flood cards run out, shuffle the flood discard pile and flip over to make a new flood draw deck
  4. Players take turns repeating steps 1 - 3 on their turn
